I’ve had a number of contractors after learning Primavera Engineering & Construction (P3e/c) or Primavera Contractor ask point blank “what is the benefit to me to use a work breakdown structure (WBS).” This is not an easy question to answer, and certainly not openly apparent. In order to construct a meaningful answer, we must discuss a few related topic and define exactly what a WBS is and is not.
